Mom, it's 9:30!

No, it's 5:30.
Moooooommmm.
Go down & see if Santa came.
1 minute later
Mom,mom,mom,there'spresentsandcandyandsantaatethecookiesandthereindeerspilledoatsandthere'spresents
Crawls into my bed, presses her nose against mine & smiles HUGE - Mom?

Before

After.
It was a fruitful, and noisy Christmas chez Frau.
Yes, we got up at 5:30 - how could I say no?
Henry took two naps during the day. Isobel was carried along by chocolate & the prospect of the next gift.

I was fortified with chocolate and beer.
Ho,ho,ho!

Like I said, noisy

The king of all things Star Wars.

They are the only grandchildren on both sides and the only niece & neph to Andy's two bros.
They still haven't played with all of their toys.

We've been wearing our pjs for two days, I love Christmas!

Rob, you are killing me!!!!!

Rob won't quit posting about Jitterbug, the newish Colinette sock yarn. God knows he's the number one Colinette 'ho, but I gotta go fondle some Jitterbug.

Here are the colors I like:

Castagna (Italian for Chestnut) & Copperbeach.
Rob calls them masculine and neutral, so that must mean I'm his butch b*tch.
Forever & always, Rob : )

I have no intention of making socks out of this stuff, I'm dreaming of a long fitted lacy cardigan/jacket thing. It will break the bank won't it?

Carla, Mistress of Public Policy, & I will go on a Jitterbug hunt after Christmas, we'll bring Zingerman's & we might bring beer.

I spent a good portion of the morning making wee felted snowballs with third graders & tomorrow I felt with second graders, so now I'm going to cuss like a drunken sailor on leave & crack a Guinness. Brilliant!

Master Carla

My partner in fiber crime graduated Sunday with a Masters in Public Policy. Everyone say Whoo-hoo!

Here's she is on the big board at Crisler Arena (Go Blue)

Hugging the head of the school. Carla's crying & I was too. I'm so proud of her.

Carla & her kiddos & her nieces.

One happy woman!

The LOTR scarf is done & winging it's way with a 12-disc set of the trilogy to a 6'4" hobbit.

A couple of Christmas notes

No one but the divine Eartha Kitt should sing Santa Baby.
Every other version just sucks.
Yes, she was my favorite Cat Woman too.

There is only one true Grinch.

Jim Carrey's Jimmy- Stewart- sounding, alpaca- suit- wearing Grinch, just doesn't count & is really creepy.

Ditto with Cat in the Hat.

Whew! I feel better now. I fester & rant over those two things every Christmas.

Anyone with small kiddos looking for a non-skin-scorching space heater. Try the Vornado, warms a room but doesn't get too hot. As bonus for impatient spinners, use it to blow warm air on damp skeins that you're in a hurry to knit with, they dry in a jiff.

HolidAAAAAys

I spelled Holidays wrong on our Christmas cards - what an ass. Of course the hub proofed it too.
Goes to show, yet again, details are not my thing. Picture is adorable though.
on the craft front. I ran out of gotland & am spinning like crazy to make up for it - must ship by midweek.
My brain is trying hard to come down form 11 days of hyper parenting vigilance while the husband was away. Def feel less stressed, but I found my car keys in the fridge.

What is going on with the tv show Numb3rs? I used to love it now, eh. It seems like 1) they're making it unnecessarily violent 2) they're trying to making the main characters more individuals & losing the connection between them. Just my thoughts.

Yarn opinion please. Has anyone used the Colinette superwash merino sock yarn, Jitterbug? I just saw it online & got a brain flash for a garment.................

Day 8

My hub has been gone on a business trip for 9 days with 2 more to go. I am a fried mama.
We're eating a lot of packaged food from Trader Joe's and watching every Christmas special on tv, more than once.
I'm pretty much going ot bed with the kids ,so not much fiber has been going on here.

I spun my gotland for the LOTR scarf

I swatched for a while & decided on a mistake rib. I wanted a woven stitch, but it got cardboard stiff very quickly.

I managed to find a great deal on the extended version boxed set of all 3 movies. The one that has the Peter Jackson commentary, not the new one. The recipient of this gift pack is going to be one happy guy.

Plus the hunt and the process of this has been a lot of fun.

Working on socks for the girlie and matching ones for her American Girl doll.
There are great AG sock instructions here.
They take about a second.

I decided that a pineapple would make a great colorway

Then there's this.
I've always loved James Bond, but the new thuggy James has me over the moon.
Having an actor that can do more than one emotion makes this Bond more than things blowing up - but the blowing up is good too.
I've always loved the underlying menace that Daniel Craig does so well.

Watch Layer Cake.

He's also going to be Lord Asriel in the Golden Compass.

You're welcome.
